Location, location, location as well as possible seller financing available! Your view is forever uninhibited and uninhabited. No structures can ever be built across the canal.  Also, since the house sits at the very front of the property, it offers an opportunity to build additional structures behind the home. Fish for halibut and salmon, collect clams, sea cucumbers, an octopus, perhaps? Set crab pots, hunt ducks and geese, deer and black bear, right in the canal area, or just sit and watch the does with fawns walk down the beach and swim out to the area islands. There are wolves in the area so deer are very cautious. You will see porpoises feed, fish jump completely out of the water and watch as the natural beauty of south east Alaska plays out your front yard. Birds of all kinds including loons, hummingbirds and Sandhill cranes that pass through in flocks during their migration. The area offers a multitude of berries, assorted vegetables, and mushrooms. This property has two bearing cherry trees that produce enough cherries to can whole or preserve as you wish. Internet is available and works in the area. Cell phones work in areas, too.

Duncan canal is 30 miles long. There are a series of rivers (the Castle rivers) that flow into both Little & Big Duncan canal. This area is great for kayaking, canoeing and boating. If you have a float plane, the layout will accommodate a plane nicely.

The property itself has a guest house with an oil stove, a shop with an oil stove, a generator shed with two Honda generators – one is brand new, the other a workhorse used as a backup. The main home sets atop a full above-ground 1st floor. You walk up a nice, wide front porch and into a "boot room". It is a small interior area where you can shed wet, snowy or muddy clothes before going into the 1st floor of the house. The first floor is where all the maintenance equipment is housed. Trojan T-105 batteries connect to a Trace inverter with solar panels for charging batteries (the generator can also be used for running power tools, the washing machine, charging batteries, etc). There is an EFEL oil stove and a very nice wood stove making heating easy to do in the winter. The cook-stove, refrigerator and the on- demand water system are all propane powered. The washing machine is a Crosley. There is a huge pantry on the first floor. This space stays cool year-'round. There is also a lot of closet space for hanging things and shelving for storing tools, dry goods, or whatever you have a need to store.

A quick few steps up to the main log home and you are standing on a thick wide fir plank floor. An island separates the common area from the kitchen where there is lots of storage space as well as hot and cold running water. The dining area seats 8 comfortably around a harvest style table with a view that cant be beat! The dining room wraps around to the living area and on into what is now a library of bookshelves. The third floor/loft is where the master bedroom is. There is a full deck that runs the entire length of the first floor and the main floor has a deck on the west and southwest sides.
